Five Things

1.  We changed our minds on getting a big wooden play set this year for the kids.  I think it would frustrate Delaney if she couldn’t do everything.  So I decided to check Craigslist for something more age appropriate this summer.  I found this amazing set that I’m waiting to hear back about.  The colors aren’t as pretty as this stock picture, but I think the kids would love it!

2.  Books I have read lately:

Wonder

Wonder by R.J. Palacio – It’s about a boy with a facial deformity who goes to school for the first time.  Very inspiring!  Obviously not the same thing but kind of similar to how people stare at Andy because he’s so tall.  And then I want to punch them.

I Never Promised You a Goodie Bag by Jennifer Gilbert – I’m reading this one now.  The story of a woman trying to survive and live her life after being randomly attacked by a stranger.  I haven’t read many memoirs but I am really enjoying this book.  The author is able to find joy and happiness after having her life turned upside down.
3.  Books on my wait list at the library are Winter’s Tale, The Fault in Our Stars, and Bellman and Black.  I’ve had a Kindle for years and I’ve only bought one book.  The online library is really great = free! Unfortunately I missed the email notification for the first book and I have to sit on a much longer wait list a second time.  Any suggestions for books that I might be able to get sooner and read in the meantime?
4.  Lent began on Monday!  [Byzantines have a different start date.]  I forgot and ate meat and dairy.  Sorry mom/God.  No one reminded me!  I don’t usually give anything up for Lent but I saw my friend Therese post this on Facebook and I liked it:

Looking for something to give up for Lent?
Give up resentment and become more forgiving.
Give up hatred and return good for evil.
Give up complaining and be more grateful.
Give up pessimism and become more hopeful.
Give up worry and become more trusting.
Give up anger and become more patient.
Give up pettiness and become more noble.
Give up gloom and become more joyful.
Give up doubt and turn to God.

5.  My mom’s 55th birthday is this weekend.  Happy Birthday Mom!  Tristan and Delaney can’t wait to celebrate with you.
