How far along? 35 weeks / 35 days to go!
Total weight gain: At this weeks appointments I’ve still hovered around 146 – 148.
Appointments: I continue to have twice a week appointments with NSTs. They also checked for Group B Strep this week. If I test positive, I’ll be giving antibiotics when delivering so that the baby does not get infected.
In the coming week I’ll have my two regular appointments, an ultrasound appointment in Greentree, and a diabetes appointment downtown. Lots of running around!
How big is baby? Your baby doesn’t have much room to maneuver now that he’s over 18 inches long and tips the scales at 5 1/4 pounds (pick up a honeydew melon). Because it’s so snug in your womb, he isn’t likely to be doing somersaults anymore, but the number of times he kicks should remain about the same. His kidneys are fully developed now, and his liver can process some waste products. Most of his basic physical development is now complete — he’ll spend the next few weeks putting on weight.
Clothing? The weather has been cooler this week so I wore maternity pants twice. Ugh, I hate them so much.
Sleep? I still wake up on my back. It’s really making my back hurt. When I try to sit or stand up, it usually makes a loud cracking sound before I can move easily.
Symptoms? I had another round of headaches this week. They are aura migraines. The aura lasts for 15 or 20 minutes and afterwards I sometimes get a headache. If I take Tylenol right away I’m usually fine. My doctor was not concerned since my blood pressure is good. She said since I don’t normally get them in my adult life (I did a few times as a teen,) then they should go away after I give birth.
B-H are getting stronger especially at night. They wake me up and they’re starting to hurt! Hopefully that means I’ll make some progress as time goes on.
My diabetes started to get out of control last week so I’m now taking insulin three times per day, with each meal. It’s working so far and my numbers are back in the ‘good’ range.
I like to ask each of the doctors about their thoughts on inducing me early. The doctor today basically said to plan on 39 weeks being the magic number. So even though I’m five weeks out, the bambino might be here in four! I’m not thrilled about being induced but we’ll do whatever it takes to make sure he arrives safe and sound.
