How far along? 38 weeks
Total weight gain: I was at 150 at my appointment on Monday.
Appointments: At Monday’s appointment, Dr. G checked to see my progress. I’m now at 50% effaced and 1cm dilated! This is really great news because if we end up with an induction, it is good to have some progress rather than starting at nothing.
Dr. G said the hospital won’t let them schedule an induction more than a week in advance. So hopefully we’ll finally have a date at the next appointment or at least the one after that.
We went to an ultrasound yesterday. The amniotic fluid levels are still good and Kelli the tech kept saying that we have a chubby-cheeked baby! We could see his stomach moving which she said was him practicing to breathe.
How big is baby? Your baby has really plumped up. He weighs about 6.8 pounds and he’s over 19 1/2 inches long (like a leek). He has a firm grasp, which you’ll soon be able to test when you hold his hand for the first time! His organs have matured and are ready for life outside the womb.
Clothing? Dresses, dresses, more dresses. Even my below-the-belly leggings hurt now because the baby is sitting so low.
Sleep? Sleep is comical. Every once in a while I can get more than two hours of sleep at a time. Lying on my back in any way makes me nauseous. It doesn’t stop me though! One night I was like a turtle flipped onto my shell. I was lying sideways and my head was off the side of the memory foam mattress topper and I could not get up! I think satin sheets would be a great choice for late in pregnancy to make moving easier.
Symptoms? The B-H/contractions are still happening at night. They wake me up several times per night. I’ve even had a few strong ones during the day.
I had another aura migraine yesterday. I will not miss those. I’m having trouble with carpool tunnel in my right hand/wrist in the mornings. Andy might have to start drying my hair because I can’t hold onto the hair dryer! It falls out of my hand.
I take lots of naps, whenever I can. Sometimes I don’t plan to take a nap but the next thing I know, I’ve been asleep for an hour.
