39 Weeks

How far along? 39 weeks

Total weight gain: I was still at 150 at my appointment on Monday.  Only 20 lbs gained total, give or take!

Appointments: At Monday’s appointment, Dr. R checked my progress.  Nothing further!  I have another appointment on Thursday when we will finallize the induction plan.  Tentatively we will go in sometime Thursday evening/night to start the process.  That could change depending on how the NST goes and what the schedule looks like at the hospital.  I’m planning on Thursday being my last day at work either way.

How big is baby?  Your baby’s waiting to greet the world! He continues to build a layer of fat to help control his body temperature after birth, but it’s likely he already measures about 20 inches and weighs a bit over 7 pounds, a mini watermelon. (Boys tend to be slightly heavier than girls.) The outer layers of his skin are sloughing off as new skin forms underneath.

Clothing?  Same stuff.  At least the weather has cooperated a bit and it’s been cooler.

Sleep?  I had two nights this week when I slept for 6 hours in a row!  That is definitely a record.  Since those nights, I’ve started having a lot more contractions throughout the night so I’m awake more.  I’ve had some strange dreams which do not help either.  I had some trouble falling asleep several nights, mostly because I’m excited about the upcoming event!

Symptoms? Contractions all the time, mostly in the evenings and at night.  Several times I would think, “Hmm, I should start keeping track of the frequency,” but then I decided I wasn’t ready for that yet.  :)

I’m not thrilled about having an induction, I would much rather go into labor on my own.  But I know that the GD and insulin makes it important for Baby M to be born this week before my due date.

Andy and I are going out to dinner tonight, one last time as a family of two!
