How Not to Wear a Chambray Shirt

If you’re a girl and you subscribe to Pinterest, you’ve seen plenty of pins showing you how to wear a chambray shirt.  I bought mine at Target about a year ago.  I’ve successfully worn it paired with tan cords and several scarves.  I thought I’d try one of the other ideas, a sweater over the shirt.  As you will see in the following pictures, I’m apparently doing something very, very wrong.  The truth of the matter is, all of my sweaters are ridiculously old and out of style.  All of them were bought prior to 2010, some MUCH earlier than 2010.

This is a more recent sweater.  I have it in light beige also, maybe that would look better?  Add a big statement necklace?

I knew there was no possible way this sweater would be wearable in 2014 under any circumstances.

The shrug!  I recently asked a friend if I should throw out all of my shrugs or keep them in hopes that they circle back in to style.  I have this in black also (which I think was stolen from Bonnie.)

American Eagle circa 2001.  Not shown is the thin leather tie that I tucked into the neck.  I thought it might be too much.

A cardigan that I bought for pennies to go over a dress, but never ended up wearing it.  The buttons are actually faux jewels, so classy.

Another sweater of Bonnie’s.  It’s way too tight to wear with a shirt underneath.

I thought this cardigan might look okay but I think it would function better as a rag.

What am I left with?  I giant pile of sweaters, 4 of which I actually wear.  They fill the two cubbies on the left and there is a decent sized stack on the side.  Time for a closet purge?  Yes.IMG_20140122_202104

I am not sure I can even comment on this post. This gives me some serious motivation to clean out my closets and bring you a new batch of 2 yr old leftover clothes! :)

You should do that! You should see the pile of clothes I have for “donate” and I’m not done going through the closet yet either.
